Since the beginning of the 2007 school year:
Students from Jefferson County High came to McFerran Preparatory Academy to film the program for the KET television station.

A camera crew and reporters came and as part of their report on the progress at J.B. Atkinson, they filmed and took information about the Success for Life Ballroom program for the Jefferson County Public School monthly bulletin and for their television program.

December:
With the help of Humana Corporation, the 5th grade students of J.B. Atkinson Elementary School will be performing an evening Christmas ballroom dance program for their families and local leadership. Humana will be providing a catered meal, doing extensive decorating in the gym and cafeteria, and printing both invitations and programs for the event. There will also be media coverage.

We also want to thank Target for their generous donation to help provide clothing for the students this night.

In 2006, Atkinson Elementary School had the lowest achievement scores of any elementary school in Kentucky. It also had low morale and serious discipline problems. The principal and staff implemented a number of reforms that have resulted in dramatic improvements in both student achievement and behavior. One of those is a ballroom dancing program.
